Dear Sir, I have been put into a state of annoyance by Hugh Glass’s wife sending up an account she has trumped up against Mrs. Higgins. She has rendered Mrs. H. perfectly useless and ill, and as I mast go into Toronto tomorrow cost what will you will add to the many kindnesses you have already done me, if you will investigate this little business for me. All I want you to do is to give the annexed letters to each of the parties addressed and get their written answers if possible. I know I am asking you to do a very disagreeable business for me but if you knew the state it has put me into on the eve of leaving my house without Mrs. H. being in a state to manage for me, I am sure you will do it for me and I will do as much for you another time. Keep this to yourself. I have sent Hugh Paller with а light wagon and my waterproof coat to keep you out of the mud. I do not want to say anything to Hugh Glass until after I hear your report. I enclose the account which bring back; I think it is in Wright's hand writing, the other items I can disprove by entries in my book. Tho. Kinnear. - Date of Original
