John Coulter

John Coulter was born in County Down, Ireland, in 1819 he emigrated to Canada, and settled in Kingston, later coming to Richmond Hill in 1855, where he engaged in the tailoring business until 1894.

One of his sons, Robert Coulter, born in 1859, was educated in medicine in Toronto, and practiced in Aurora, for 15 years, when he was appointed Deputy Postmaster General, by Sir William Mulock, a post he held until his death.
